What's Cookin'

Posted by Bridgette at 10:02 PM 0 comments
Well I'm trying a  variation on a favourite tonight .. not a huge variation, but still.

I've decided to make Chicken Parmigana .. except there will be no crumbed deep fried chicken, i'm cooking it on the health grill, then adding grilled eggplant, homemade tomato sauce and 25g of light cheese, and piling up the plate with veggies of course. It works out to be 5 points, less if I don't put the cheese .. but I love my cheese too much, and really it's only 2 points for the extra light bega i'll be using .. i've got my sauce simmering away as we speak .. well type .. and it smells DELICIOUS!!

I've also decided to write in my tracking on here .. I use the WW Journal, and WAS using the e-tools for tracking although my internet played up too much and it was more convenient to hand write it .. but my thoughts for including my tracking in my blog is that it helps keep me accountable ... I know what i'm like and I like to decieve myself when i'm writing out my points, and try and trick myself into allowing more than I should .. not that i've done that yet, but i've certainly thought about it!!

So here is what today looks like, points allowance 25:

Breakfast - 3 points
2x wholemeal crumpets (3)
Vegemite (0)
Black tea with 1/2tsp splenda (0)

Morning Tea - 2 points
1 banana (1)
Nestle Diet Yoghurt (1)
WW Cordial (0)

Lunch - 7 points
2 slices Helgas Mixed Grain (3)
2 poached eggs (4)
2x WW Cordial (0)

Afternoon Tea - 2 points
2x Corn Cruskits (1/2)
1/4 Avocado (1 1/2)
2x Water (0)

Dinner- 5 points
140g Grilled Chicken (on the healthgrill) (3)
Eggplant (0)
Homemade Tomato Sauce (0)
25g Extra Light Cheese (2)
Broccoli, Carrot, Beans, Squash (0)
1x Diet Lemonade (0)

Dessert - 2 points
WW Berry Mudslide ice-cream (2)

Evening Snack - 2 1/2 points
1 Pear (1)
Nestle Diet Strawberry Fromage Frais (1 1/2)

Total = 23.5

Now, i've not gotten to dinner yet, I may change dessert/evening snack, but we'll see

Oh well, I'd better be off to get cooking, DF will be home soon and i'm getting hungry!!

My Goals

Posted by Bridgette at 2:58 PM 0 comments
Well I sat down and worked out my goals this morning. I've split my weight loss up into 10 smaller goals which I hope will help keep me motivated!

In one way it seems like it's going to take forever, when I look at goal 10 and see my target date as April 2011 .. but I have to remind myself to look at the smaller goals, and take one at a time! I've tried to set my target dates within an achievable time frame as I don't want to depress myself if I don't get to one on time.

Most other weight loss blogs i've seen haven't had target dates, but for me personally it helps, it keeps me motivated and gives me a time frame and a target to work towards, otherwise i'm sure i'd let it go till 2015 before I got there!

Not much else to report today, these last few days have been going well, lets hope it stays that way!

The Chocolate Breakthrough!!!

Posted by Bridgette at 2:02 AM 0 comments
MY FIRST DAY WITH NOTHING CHOCOLATEY!!!

I am so totally amazed with myself lol!

I have had a very good day food wise .. soft boiled egg and multigrain toast for breakfast, skinny cappuchino at morning tea, dip platter at the movies, gold class mind you thanks to mum (i resisted the choc tops and popcorn and didn't even feel deprived about it!), chicken salad roll for lunch, garlic prawn salad for dinner, and as I was hungry later I had a WW fruit in Jelly and a wholemeal crumpet with vegemite .. no chocolate mousse, no chocolate eclair, no ice cream and I don't even feel like eating anything sweet! I always leave myself points in the evening for a treat, so today i've saved 2.5 points, as well as the .5 from yesterday and I am satisfied! What a good feeling!

Ok, so I am rambling, but this is a HUGE breakthrough! HUGE!!

To top it off I have had 3 bottles of water today at 600ml each and only one diet soft drink, compared to the 5 that I'd usually have in a day

I'm feeling motivated again now after my small loss last week making me feel a little on the negative side.

*****
On a side note...

Tomorrow night we're going out to dinner with friends to a Thai restaurant, i've decided I will have Pad Thai as it's the best option for what I like there. I'm a little worried as usually we all order a dish and everyone shares, but I will politely decline the other foods at the table as I know I will be content with my Pad Thai. I'll also have 3 points that i've saved, so that will ease any worry I have of going over points.

Now, off for an early night before I change my mind about eating chocolate!!

Weigh In Today

Posted by Bridgette at 12:46 AM 0 comments
..and I lost 0.3

It's still a loss so I know I need to be positive about this, but i'd be lying if I said I wasn't dissapointed.

It has been one CHAOTIC week ... not making excuses, just how it is. My Best friend and "sister" gave birth late Sunday night to a gorgeous baby girl, and the rest of the week has been spent running between the hospital and work, needless to say I've been skipping breakfast, and not eating till I am ravenously hungry at 2 in the afternoon.

Goals for this week -
Eat breakfast EVERY day
Drink at least 2 bottles of water a day
TRACK TRACK TRACK

At least I still had a loss .. onwards and upwards, may this week be better!!

Week One - DONE

Posted by Bridgette at 10:08 PM 0 comments
Well, I am back on the Weight Watchers train, and into my 2nd week.

I've been on Weight Watchers before, with good success, although having lost enthusiasm last time is what undid me.

I am more determined than ever now. The last few years have seen many changes, many ups and downs, and the weight has piled on. I was at my heaviest a week ago, at a whopping 129.9kgs .. sheesh it's horrible to even admit that number!

I had a FANTASTIC first week, I felt like I was actually eating even more than I usually do, and pulled off a whopping 3.6kg weight loss.

The hardest adjustment has been making myself eat breakfast, I'm really not a big morning eater, which usually results in me stuffing myself come 1 or 2 in the afternoon, and continuing to eat until well after dinner. It's been difficult to eat smaller portions more often, but I do feel much better and more energised for it.

I think the biggest difference this time round is that mum and I are doing it together, and amazingly enough she also lost 3.6 in her first week! I think I am finally at a point where enough is enough, and I see my weight loss now as a long term thing, a lifestyle change, rather than a diet which has been my outlook in the past.

So that's week one down, I've decided to blog my efforts throughout this journey after being inspired from the blogs of other ladies on the Weight Watchers website, to help keep myself motivated, to see how far i've come, and hopefully in the long run to inspire others to do the same!
